Mike Alessi goes to Stockholm!
Holeshot king Mike Alessi confirmed for 24MX International Supercross & Freestyle MX
Mike has earned himself the reputation of being one of the best starting riders in the world. Although he's nicknamed 'the Holeshot Kid' he has much more to offer than just explosive starts! He used to be seen as an outdoor specialist, finishing runner-up in the AMA Motocross/450 class twice (2007 and 2012) but Alessi has developed into a strong supercross rider as well. He recorded a 6th place overall in 2012 and ended this year's Monster Energy AMA Supercross series 10th.
As an amateur Mike won an astonishing 11 titles, the same number as James Stewart. The Californian, who started riding at the age of 3, stormed onto the pro scene surrounded by lots of hype. Still he proved to be the real thing. Only 16 years old the #800 made the podium at Steel City in the 450 MX class!
Alessi has raced in Europe before but his visit to Stockholm in October will be his first time in Sweden. "It will be exciting to come over (to Sweden), I heard a lot of great things about the country. Everytime when you're traveling out of the US you try to take in the sights and sounds but the racing at the 24MX International Supercross should be awesome as well. The arena, the track and riders... everything is going to be pretty amazing!"
Alessi is an accomplished showman who likes to give back to his fans and wears his heart on his sleeve. His personality, his hard racing and aggressive riding style earned him both respect and harsh criticism. About the controversy surrounding him and his family he grins: "Don't they say that all publicity is good publicity?"
