24MX Supercross kicks off winter SX season!!

Two days to go...

This Saturday supercross roars into action with the inaugural 24MX International SX at the world-famous Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. One week before the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas and ahead of the long-established Bercy, Genova and Genève races Swedish fans will get the première of world class indoor action this winter season! With American stars Jason Anderson, Josh Hill, Mike Alessi, Shane McElrath, Vince Friese, Phil Nicoletti, Jake Canada and Nick Schmidt in attendance the crowd is in for a treat.

Jason Anderson's Husqvarna debut

The spectacular line-up will guarantee exciting racing but the highly anticipated 450 AND Husqvarna debut of 250 West Coast SX champ Jason Anderson has to be one of the highlights of the race. Red Bull Straight Rhythm participants Josh Hill, Shane McElrath, Jake Canada and Vince Friese look on-form as well. And while Mike Alessi is most famous for his outdoor results his top-5 results in Monster Energy Supercross prove that the  MotoConcepts Racing rider is a serious threat on any type of terrain.

But no matter their achievements the riders will have to share the spotlight with an incredible track. Organizers Bergman Trading have brought in American track builder Brian “Skippy” and earthmoving company Johan Westermark to build a full-blown Supercross track inside one of the most modern arena’s in Europe!

Izoird leads the European opposition

While the depth of the field looks particularly strong with 11 American riders, you can count on the European specialists Fabien Izoird, Loic Rombaut, Angelo Pellegrini and Matteo Bonini to give the AMA boys a  hard time.  UK Areneacross champion Izoird definitely has the speed and style to do serious damage. And with Bercy-Lille just around the corner the European SX specialists are keen to get their first big race of the season under their belt.

The same goes for ADAC Supercross regulars Jack Brunell, Marcus-Lee Soper and Jeffrey Meurs. For Finnish champion Santtu Tiainen and his fellow Scandinavian riders the 24MX Supercross provides the perfect opportunity to gain experience in supercross in the very best conditions. European MX of Nations winner Priit Rätsep is the leader of a motivated Estonian delegation.

Torronteras to set Tele2 Arena on fire

True to its full name the 24MX Internation Supercross and freestyle also presents a stunning field of FMX heroes. X-Games and X-Fighters legend André Villa unfortunately got injured, but with Edgar Torronteras the organizers found the perfect replacement.  The Spaniard is one of the godfathers of European freestyle and has more tricks up his sleeve than David Copperfield and Dynamo combined! Kiss of Death backflip specialist Brody Wilson and fellow American James Carters represent the US scene. Top Japanese freestyler Daice Suzuki, Thom Johansson (Sweden) and French ace David Rinaldo are equally ready to blow the roof off. Let the games begin!
